You can tell it's election season in Trenton. Politicians who have not been seen since the last election are busy with photo opportunities and sending out press releases.

These “photo opps” as called by the politicians and their handlers are springing up everywhere. All of a sudden they want to make the voters of Trenton believe they are doing something. That they really care.

But the voters, if history remains true, are not and will not fall for the okey doke. They will show exactly what they think of the career politicians by voting with their feet. That is less people each election cycle vote and go to the polls and vote.

Maybe the dismal voter turnout is because the voters know that their in name only representatives are not only empty suits and skirts but they are full of kaka. One would think the career politicians would be alarmed and concerned about the significant number of voters who stay at home.

Not the case. As long as the few voters who come out and pull their levers they are satisfied. They will be able to continued to stay in their positions and rape the taxpayers. Democracy, participation by the citizens that is just propaganda for adults in other countries and school children in the US.

They were absent when babies and other youth fell victim to gun violence in Trenton. Now they are everywhere. No longer invisible, their names and photos appear everywhere. “Vote for me, I’ll set you free.” Not fooling anyone.

Just recently, the current occupant in Trenton City Hall announced creation of a blue ribbon committee to study gun violence in Trenton. It is the equivalent of putting one head in the sand until the storm blows over. However, the storm shows no signs of abating. No problem, it is just an election year ploy anyway.

The blue ribbon committee will give a report six months from now with recommendations as to what Trenton’s city government and its people should do to reduce and eliminate gun violence. The first report and recommendations will be presented right around election day. So very convenient.

What exactly can we expect from the members of the study committee? A photo opportunity and press conference with the current occupant of City Hall. Nothing more, nothing less “and the beat plays on.”

The study committee is composed of some of the most honorable people in the city of Trenton. Good people, religious, God-fearing people who clearly want to make a difference. They believe in what they are doing and they want to do the right thing. What they do not want to do is be used and that is exactly what is being done. It is a gross election technique to fool people. It's wrong. It's foul. After six months of meetings and presentations will they have any answers different than they have today to give to residents of Trenton. Wii there actually be a report from the blue ribbon committee or was this just another election photo opp? The smart money says the latter.

Those responsible for establishing the study committee are indicating by passing it on to others that perhaps they are clueless as to how to prevent children from dying at the hands of other children? Then again, do they really care? They are just Black and Latinx. “In my city, we would keep the traffic in the dark people, the coloreds. They're animals anyway, so let them lose their souls.” The Godfather.

Let’s hold a press conference. Make sure all the elected officials are there for the photo opportunity. Make sure we have talking points prepared for each one. You know with the line ‘Our hearts and prayers go out for the family.’ When is enough enough?

Four years ago, there were no less than a dozen candidates running for mayor of Trenton. There was the the Education Candidate, the Establishment Candidate, the Anti-Establishment Candidate, the Downtown Revitalization Candidate,the Nothing Else to Do Candidate, the Technology Candidate, the Time for a Change Candidate (changing what the names on the doors, desks and checks?), the Can We All Just Get Along Candidate, the Anti-Violence Candidate, the Entitlement Candidate, and the Here We Go Again Candidate.

Apparently, all is well in the City of Trenton. No one feels a need to challenge the current mayor. Trenton is clearly on the move. It is considered one of the safest small cities in the US. Families, individuals and businesses are rushing in to take advantage of the great progress taking place in Trenton.. Businesses hoping to get a piece of the State’s cannabis industry are eager to set up shop in Trenton. Unfortunately, that is not the case It seems the only people interested in coming to Trenton are federal agents who smell something very foul coming out of City Hall. It is not burned chitlins, pig feet or pollo con arroz
