Washington, DC (March 12, 2022) – Yesterday, President Biden Signed the 2022 federal spending bill. On Wednesday, Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) voted to fund $7,330,091 in Community Project Funding that she previously secured for the 12th District. This funding, included in the appropriations government funding package, responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in the Central Jersey area.
“I am incredibly pleased to vote for $7,330,091 in Community Project Funding in this bill that I know will have a profound impact on the 12th District,” Rep. Watson Coleman said. “These investments support underserved areas and foster economic development, making a real difference in the lives of so many in our community. I am proud to have fought for funding that will make our community healthier, safer, stronger, and even more resilient.”
Rep. Watson Coleman championed funding for 10 projects that will directly benefit local residents. These include:
$1,000,000 for the Trenton Wharf Flood Resilience Park Project
$405,000 for expansion of the South Brunswick Library
$1,600,091 for improvements to Dunhams Corner Road in East and South Brunswick
$500,000 for lighting and safety improvements to the Trenton Artwalk Project
$1,000,000 for the Franklin Township Youth Center
$100,000 for Facility Construction and Rehabilitation at Sister2Sister in Somerset
$625,000 for Mercer County for an Emerald Ash Borer Management and Ash Tree Restoration Project
$550,000 for United Way of Central Jersey, Milltown, NJ for the Summer STEAM Stars program
$1,000,000 for TechUnited:NJ BetterFutureLabs for a technology program, including curriculum development for students in the district
$550,000 for Capital Health System, Inc., Trenton, NJ for purchase of a mobile simulation lab for continuing education and community education
The government funding package will help middle class families with the cost of living, create jobs in the district, supports the vulnerable, and work to help small businesses and restaurants that are key to our economic future. Taken together, the funding for the 12th District and the funding increases for critical government programs will reverse decades of disinvestment in our communities and strengthen our nation.
