Welcome to the The Nubian News Anti-Killing Campaign. Violent deaths in Trenton happen too often. Once is too often.

Maybe people don’t know killing is not acceptable. So you have to tell people not kill. That’s what we are going to do.

Each issue of The Nubian News we will dedicate a page, to start, to telling young men and women not to kill each other. Sometimes we’ll ask their mothers to drill it into their heads not to kill.

If they want to beat people up, ok, but don’t kill them.

We’ve seen signs, programs, TV clips, radio announcements, posters, etc. about ‘drunk driving’, ‘alcoholism’, ‘don’t do drugs’, ‘wear a seatbelt’, ‘gambling anonymous’, ‘quit smoking’ — everything except: Don’t Kill!.

There are programs for all kinds of things but the one thing that breaks the hearts of the entire community every-so-often there is nothing. People talk about what a shame these killings are but nobody is addressing the problem at its root. Before it happens.

Before it comes to mind. If we can get it into the minds of the entire community that killing is totally unacceptable, maybe we can stop them.

We are tired of wringing our hands, shaking our heads, lamenting our woes. We want to get it into the heads of our young men and women that killing is an abomination and is totally unacceptable at every level of our City’s society.

We need your help. Donations are always needed and welcome.

We also need your minds. We need to create and develop ideas for the campaign. The Nubian News can provide the Ad space but we need your input to tell the story.

With the minds of an entire city working on this problem we will create a program that will reduce the pain and heartbreak in town.

Again, we need Donations, too. Eventually we want a four page, full color pull-out filled with news, resources, and hope to stop killings in our town. But we can foresee bill boards and posters and school reach-outs. There are all kinds of thing we can do, if we try, to stop killings in Trenton and beyond.
